About the RGGI Project Series

The oft-cited RGGI Project Series has become an important “go to” resource for the states and stakeholders for credible, reliable, in-depth assessment of front-line climate and clean energy issues facing states today.

Launched in 2011, the Series responds to critical gaps in research and analysis on practical, market-based approaches to address carbon pollution – from economic and health impacts to efficiency and effectiveness of program design.  The Series taps high caliber independent experts to tackle the challenging questions (and opportunities) confronting state leaders on RGGI, regional cooperation and state complementary measures and climate goals.  The Series aims to inform and stimulate public dialogue and provide a resource for sound policy decisions. 

A signature feature of the Series is the rigorous review, transparency and independence of its projects. An independent technical advisory group of peer experts is often convened to provide guidance and input on analytic methods and results for larger complex modeling or policy analyses. Workshops include a wide range of experts and opinions, with opportunity for critical discussion of a new study, or innovative approaches to carbon trading, expanding markets and state options. The Project Coordinator for the Series provides independent oversight and assistance throughout a project. Each study or paper, however, reflects the analysis and judgment of the expert authors alone, and does not reflect the views of the foundations, the Coordinator or any advisory group member. This protocol ensures the independence and credibility of the reports.
